About Us

Making Cornwall a better place to live well and age well

Age Friendly Cornwall is a partnership programme working led by Cornwall Council and working across health, housing, transport, community and more.

We listen to local people. We work with local organisations. And we take action to make things better for everyone growing older in Cornwall.

Our mission

Why Age friendly Cornwall Exists

Cornwall has an ageing population with more than a third of people aged 50 or over.

That number is growing.

Growing older in Cornwall can be wonderful. But it comes with real challenges too, isolation, limited transport, rising costs and gaps in services.

Age Friendly Cornwall was set up to tackle those challenges.

We bring together the people and organisations best placed to make a difference. And we hold ourselves accountable for getting results.

We listen first

Older people in Cornwall shape our priorities.  We ask, we listen, and we act on what we hear.

We work together

No single organisation can do this alone.  Partnership is at the heart of everything we do.

We are inclusive

We focus on people who are left behind and those who face the biggest barriers.

We measure what matters

We track our progress and share it openly.  good intentions are not enough.

THE WHO FRAMEWORK

What we are doing next

After successfully joining the network of Age Friendly Communities in the UK, our aim is to produce an action plan that will focus our work.

We will use the data gathered in the Age Friendly Survey to inform this, and work through our partnerships to bring this action plan to life.

We will keep updating our website as things progress, so please keep checking back.
